01  Position Summary

This role is for the rare person who makes culture move —and knows how to measure whether it did. Part creative art director, part community architect, part trend operator. You have a genuine obsession with culture — not as a spectator, but as a builder of it. You know how to translate cultural cachet into content that stops thumbs, builds communities, and moves product.

This role sits within the Marketing org and works cross-functionally with the marketing leads to ensure social and community are fully integrated into every campaign, launch, and brand moment.
ColourPop has 9.6 million followers and a community that genuinely loves this brand. The gap is not reach — it’s heat, community depth, and always-on cultural relevance. This leader will rebuild that engine: restoring an active ambassador community, owning the creator ecosystem, and making ColourPop a brand that shows up first — not late.
02  What You’ll Do
 
  • Own the Content Engine. Lead organic content strategy across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts with a clear POV on what ColourPop should be known for in culture. Build and manage a contracted creator roster to drive variety and velocity simultaneously. No more batch-and-post cycles. And when the moment calls for it, you pick up the camera yourself — you can film, edit natively, and post content that performs.
  • Function as a Hybrid Creative Art Director. You’re not just scheduling content — you’re shaping the visual and cultural language of ColourPop’s social presence. Brief creators with a specific aesthetic vision, push back when the work isn’t there yet, and know the difference between content that lands and content that just looks okay.
  • Build Cultural Cachet. Make ColourPop mean something in culture — show up at the right moment, in the right format, with the right creator, before anyone else gets there. You understand how cultural heat is built and compounded, and you have a track record of doing it.
  • Rebuild & Own the Ambassador Community. Bring the ColourPop community back to life. Build and manage an always-on ambassador program — a curated, active community of devoted Colour Lovers who create, advocate, and amplify. This isn’t a gifting list. It’s a living ecosystem you own and grow.
  • Lead Trend Detection & Activation. Build a real trend radar — sounds, formats, creator behavior, competitor moves — and turn it into a weekly activation shortlist the team executes within 48 hours. Know the difference between a trend worth jumping on and noise, and make that call fast.
  • Build the Creator & Community Ecosystem. Build community relationships with a bias toward authentic brand fit and engagement. Partner with TikTok Shop and affiliate teams on creator crossover.
  • Revenue Accountability. Track engagement, saves, shares, reach, and EMV — and use them to make better decisions the following week. Come to every business review with a clear story: what the data says, what it means, and what we do next.
  • Build the Playbooks. If a process doesn’t exist and it should, create it. Own the frameworks for trend activation, creator briefing, ambassador/community management, and campaign extension into organic social.
  • Multi-Hat Mentality. You don’t clock out at the edge of your role. When something needs to get done, you do it — and you’re energized by the range, not depleted by it.
03  Requirements
 
  • 6–8 years in social media, content creation, or content strategy — with at least 2 years managing a team. Beauty, fashion, or lifestyle brand experience strongly preferred.
  • Cultural Obsession. You don’t just follow culture — you help build it. You know how cultural cachet is earned, compounded, and lost. You can bridge niche internet culture and mainstream commercial success before the moment passes.
  • Hybrid Creative Art Direction. Genuine aesthetic vision. You can art-direct a creator shoot, write a tight brief with a specific visual POV, and push back when the work doesn’t meet the standard.
  • Hands-On Content Creator. You don’t just manage content — you make it. Comfortable filming on a phone, editing in CapCut or native app editors, writing captions, and hitting post. Your portfolio includes real content you made, not just campaigns you oversaw. You know the difference between a brief that inspires and one that just describes, because you’ve been on both sides of it.
  • Community Builder. You know how to build and sustain a devoted brand community — not just grow a follower count. Experience managing ambassador programs or always-on community ecosystems strongly preferred.
  • Platform Mastery. You live on TikTok and Instagram as a student of the platform. You know what drives performance at a mechanical level and can spot a rising trend before it has a name.
  • Relationship-Driven. Creators and community members trust you because you actually understand their world. Gifting and seeding aren’t transactional for you — they’re relationship-building at scale.
  • Fast. 48-hour cycles, not 2-week timelines. Speed is a skill you’ve built deliberately.
  • Numbers Fluency. Familiarity with Creator IQ, Dash Hudson, Rival IQ, and ShopMy required. You find the real story in the data and walk a room through what it means and what we do next.
  • Proven Impact. Track record growing engagement and content performance on a large-scale brand account, with measurable creator and community program results.
  • Genuine Passion for Beauty. The kind where you have opinions about what content actually converts — and what looks beautiful but dies on delivery.
